There HAVE to be some good things happening, even in India :-). However the
good , the achievements, we saw touted are dubious distinctions at best. Is
hanging together as a nation by tattered threads, at the cost of thousands
and thousands of fellow Indians' lives, much of an achievement? That was<<
Beating about the bush or what? Let me start afresh.The question,raised by MR.Das was---" what are India's achievments since 1947? Please list the good ones".Mark the word "good ones".Let me rephrase the question: Has India come a long way since 1947? My answer was--yes,she has.It may be argued that it still has a long way to go in practically in all fields of endeavour but that should not distract us from the successes,which are stupendous.

Have you forgotten the recent killings in Goalpara in which the lives of 39 unarmed civilians were cut short,while they were fast asleep? Do I have to remind you the Kukurmara reserve forest maasacre,where diabolic killers dragged 35 Hindi-speaking citizens from a truck,lined them up and shot them in cold blood? Is this a sign of unflinching bravery or a lily-livered stance ? In J&K,how can one stand to cut off another human being's head ,that too of a non-combatant civilian? Speaks volume of their mental makeup.How courageous are they,when they are snuggled themselves in their accustomed luxury abroad?

The moral of the story is simple.It is the human tendency to opt for the cushier option and that's why we emigrated from India in the first place.That is why the British,the German and other Europeans stand poised to leave for the better shores.Should we surmise that the entire Europe is a land of mendicant ,mystics and miseries with no development whatsoever?
