+ Saurav,
+ You probably don't realize when you write these notes that you are already biased.
+How do you know it was stage managed? Just because Kuldip Nayar said so? You may say
+there have been so many like this before. Again that shows bias and pre-disposition.
+Look again at the words below that you wrote: " is a stage managed encounter
+acceptable to you? would a similar thing be acceptable in the usa?"

there are two separate issues here:
(1) extra-judicial killings in general, and
(2) the incident at ansal plaza.

(1)
i have always made it very clear where i stand on extra-judicial
killings. i oppose it. for a very simple reason. that if we let
it happen, then one day this will lead to personal killings for
personal gains, and we will all end up victims. this has already
happened in recent times. in the tinsukia area, a few assamese
businessmen were killed a few years ago by the army on specific
tip-offs that they were ulfa members. it turned out, some business
rivals had tipped off the army. if tomorrow, deepjyoti or ram dhar
passes through delhi, and someone else is in power -- say congress
-- then their political rivals can also dump them off and hide
behind the "law" (i am just using the names deepjyoti and ram,
without any prejudice to their political affiliations -- which i
dont know about).

my question was with regard to this specific point. what is your
position on extra-judicial executions? are you uncomfortable
answering this question?

(2)
on the incident of ansal plaza, i am not ready to say anything --
except it should be investigated. this is because there is a
slight possibility that it is an extra-judicial killing. if it is
not, well and good. if it is, then the very fact that the truth has
come out reassures us a wee bit more. on this point, i have an open
mind, and will accept the facts when they come out. i specifically
say that the police should not be held guilty before they are found
guilty -- and i have stated/indicated this a number of times. and
on the other hand, i hope that an independent investigation is made.

and this is not a bias, but a belief, that if we take this
investigation to its logical conclusion, it would have made the
indian nation stronger -- irrespective of who is proved right or
wrong.

so, dilip-da, i know exactly where i am biased :)
