From my discussions with several people, I understand that older versions
ran NT and newer versions run Linux.  I think that 4.0 and newer are running
Linux.

As for hardware, those things are just a rack mount PC.  They have a PC
motherboard and use an ATX2 power supply.  It's not even a really good one.
I blew one a few months ago and they want over $500 to replace it.  It's
still only a $35 power supply.
