Chuck,
You cannot break the contract without paying the contract fees.
I was able once to break a so called contract:
I asked them to fax me the original copy of the contract and they
couldn't find it! So they charge me the full service fee (cheaper than
paying contract cancellation fees) without the contract and I was able
to disconnect the lines.
Only once I was able to do this in the last 13 years in business.
