Actually, the explanation is simple. Chanspy etc works fine for
situations where you are monitoring from a remote terminal (phone), but
for training purposes the people sit together, side by side.

This makes chanspy very impractical unless you have an easy way to move
an extra phone into the same cubicle.

Also, plugging a headset to a "Y" cable requires nearly zero training
but remembering all the key presses required to use chanspy is more than
the average call centre supervisor can handle :|
