ICS does work, I have a couple of phones set up that way where there was no alternative because of VPNs, but can be the source of all kinds of problems, phone quits working when the PC is off or goes to sleep etc.
There are a number of small wireless Ethernet adapters (Client Bridges) that could be used to convert your phone into a wireless one. I've been trying out the ASUS WL-330gE, It's really tiny, in fact it'll fit inside the stand on the Linksys SPA phones. It doesn't seem to be very sensitive, so don't try it where your wifi is weak. There are a number of others out there that might work better.
