back in the late 90's i set up a DHCP relay server on a 386 AT&T
globalyst laptop with, of course, a 2.5" HDD in it.
it'd been running for years before everything got centralized and i
sadly had to dismantle it.

we have many canon image runners (multifunct. printers) in our
company - they have a 2.5" HDD beating in their chests and normally
operate 24/7.

certain server blades could hold 2.5" HDD drives, etc, etc... i'm sure
there're loads more examples for 2.5" HDD running 24/7.
