Darren,

I'll post some comments inline, but do want to apologize for the long
delay between official releases.

The last release of Astlinux is 0.4.8 which was done in 2007.
Additionally, while we've been finalizing the next release, I've been
making images available on my website at

I'm sorry you feel that way. We really did not intend for there to be a
very long delay between releases. On one hand, it has brought several
people into the development mix who can contribute to the project. This
should make it easier for us to stay on top of releases in the future.
The 0.6 release which will be out very very shortly (possibly even this
week) will feature the latest version of Asterisk, several security
updates and a brand new gui which is very easy to use.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

There has been some feature creep, but the biggest for the delays are
just the available time for the developers. By adding the new
contributors, that should be better in the future. Right now, Kristian
is the only one who can do the branching and official releases. We are
working to improve this. After 0.6 is branched and a 0.6.0 release is
generated, we will be much quicker to release official images when
security issues or bugs are found in Asterisk or any of the other major
pieces of software in the distro.

We've basically frozen trunk right now for new features. There is one
open issue which is really with the build environment, not with the end
resulting image. Once that package has been updated/fixed to resolve
someone's preferences, we will be ready to branch 0.6 and create the
0.6.0 tag and images.

I'm not going to beg you to stay, but if you can hang tight for another
week, we should be able to provide you with stable 0.6 images which will
far exceed anything you've seen with the other official release to date
(0.4.8).
