The VT 1000 is for a standard heat and air system. I love mine. It will come
with a CD to explain how to use all of it's functions. If you simply want to
set the temperature and know what the temperature is in the home it does
not come any easier. However, if you want it to have automatically maintain
different temperatures at different times of the day and day of week the cd
is very nice. It also has on board help that can talk you through setting it
but that takes a little practice.
It will require some sited help to install it.

Tks,
Darrel

Are there two versions? I need to be able to set it myself.

As far as I am concerned there is still no better thermostat available than
the VIP thermostats available at talkingthermostats.com. The Nest that
pairs with the iPhone is $200, and the app still isn't very accessible.
