well, if you'll do it like an open world and code a real turning, that will be my favourite game of all times. i don't like the fast 90 degrees turn idea, it isn't realistic at all. that's cool if you have to prepair for a turn, move closer to an edge of a track and then turn nicely. great. and for the ability to move straight and not to get lost, you can implement the command which turns your car straight. well, we have a russian game like this, and there when you turn, you hold left or right arrow. when you release the key, your car automaticaly turns right to the closest direction, north for example. let's say, you move north, then you turn right. your car turns to 45 degrees, then you hear something like a click, then you can just release the arrow and your car will automaticaly turn straight to the east. if you release the key before the click sound, your car will turn back to the north.
