I think the lone wolf like aproach would just get overly complicated, but that's just myself seing that I never really got a hang of how exactly that worked. I just feel that in a game with controls like these, it takes control away from me and I can't be as precise as I want to be when it comes to exactly how fast I want to go places or what exact heading i want to have while going there, so I'd like the other way you want to do things a lot better with you entering headings and speeds into consoles. I think that the manual pilot should still be available for combat situations and such, because if the gunners need to rely on the pilot, the pilot can probably do a better job of keeping track of the enemy if they are in a mode where they can constantly hear where it is without having to check sensor scan after sensor scan, which is a problem I was having with combat in dmnb.
