I don't necessarily mind the mechanic, gimicky though it was. Some of the scrolls were fairly easy to cast over and over again, had a good rhythm you could get into. And then some had like eight seconds of dead air. Sorry, nope.
And this is on a Windows machine. I realize that some of you trying to play the game under a VM had all kinds of holy hell trying to get scrolls to work, owing to latency/lag or whatnot.
And the hell of it is, Aaron could very likely have coded a timing issue into the game itself. Maybe on hard (which gives no extra rewards except maybe bragging rights?), the time window is very tight, but on easy/normal/whatever, it's a little kinder? Surely he had to program in there somewhere something like "delay = x" where delay refers to how long it will wait till it registers a fail. This could have been tweaked on the fly, unless aforementioned spaghetti code (if it exists in these BGT titles) prevented this, and probably then could've even been tied to difficulty. As it stands, ard mode is actually easier because you get more dice.
