Jayde, may I use a similar metaphor to yours about not using kid gloves? Well if you put it that way, people are going to put on their gloves as well.
The best way to defuse drama, and this comes from someone who's a master of both creating and settling drama, is by taking things lightly and joking, and gently steering the subject into a different direction.
