You only need to know a couple of simple things to use both Reddit and Discord effectively. If you want to get more advanced, the workarounds increase in complexity.
If that's too much for you, or the very concept of partial inaccessibility pains you so, than sorry but get with the program or get left behind. I was in the same boat as you a couple times and kicked my self afterwards for being such a wimp. The same thing happened with touchscreens and Windows 8+, but we figured it out.
Still, I agree about the community at large having a concept of there being a serious barrier to entry with those platforms, even if the barrier is allot lower than they think, and the end effect may be the same.
Part of me wants to say (either they are forced to adapt because they see everyone else enjoying them selves or they don't, and it's not our problem) but that seems like a risky bet.
This is again much of the reason why I suggested multiple platforms, so that hopefully people will find at least one that they can put up with.
