As I understand it there is a digital volume control that I know should be at 40 for the best sound and that is controlled with the remote. But there is another control under Slimserver, Players settings, Audio called Preamp Volume Control which, to quote: "applies only to the analog outputs on SqueezeBox". It is this control that I am wondering could/should be used instead of the external plug in Rothwell attenuators.
