It may be the wrong forum to say this, but there's every chance that Wadia know a good deal more than Slim Devices and their 861 CD player is better than the TP, however either is modded.
So the downside for you could be that you spend a fair bit of cash on a worse source than you already have. Your assumption could be flawed.
