Maybe half of the music avaliable at allofmp3.com was recorded in a lossless format. They allow you to choose the format for your download (FLAC is an option) and charge by the megabyte. Be warned that the legality of downloads from there is in question.
If an album says OE (Online Encoding) it was recorded as a lossy free format LAME MP3 at 384 kb/s. In that case the best option is to download in that format, which is a pain (because very few media players support it) but avoids transcoding artifacts. If it says OEEX (Online Encoding EXclusive?) it was recorded losslessly. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31616 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
