Yes of course they do, and it has everything to do with the S/PDIF protocol. That´s a basic fact about synchronous digital transmission; it´s called jitter. It can have a dramatic and easily audible effect (although it can also be controlled and rendered inaudible with modern techniques). No offense, but you´ve demonstrated a rather basic ignorance of this subject numerous times in this thread.
