The standard dCS set-up is to have the transport and DAC slaved to the external master clock (and my system was actually set up by a dCS manager). The more recent transports from dCS upsample red book to DSD, so the Purcell is unnecessary unless you want a choice of upsampling modes. I see from 'this thread' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39770) (to which I've just contributed) that seanadams (Founder, Slim Devices) strongly disapproves of the use of an external word clock in this situation (and gives cogent reasons for doing so!), but what can I say? It sounds great, and the improvement is easily audible. -- Ciaran ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ciaran's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18300 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49133 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
