I could not put it any better, moonbase. All differences between DACs and different brands of optical cables or what have you is highly academic if not religeous. They all are good if not spectacular (accept some).
The real difference will come from your amp, your speakers, your listening environment and last but not least from your ears. Move house if the current just does not sound right. The THD induced by your speakers is a magnitude compared to the one from the DACs used, sorry audiophiles.
