Others have already made suggestions. I didn't have anything specific in mind, but I think a Touch with a good amp/speaker combination, or a pair of good active speakers cna give you "high-end sound" for not an awful lot of money. Sure, you may be able to get better by spending more (Transporter, external DAC, etc.) but that doesn't mean that the less expensive option is not high-end.
