IMHO they are two pssibilities: 1. Your SBS is underpowered and is not able to decompress flac with sox on the fly and it breakes the data stream 2. There is something with your network. If you can borrow or buy a small cheap 100MBits switch (Cisco, Netagear, D-Link) with 4 or five ports, than try to make a SBS-SBT with this switch. Just connect the switch with one ethernet cable with your router and SBS and SBT connect to the switch.
