No - the 1.5V input is more sensitive, so would make it louder. As far as I understand, the issue the OP has is that the 1.5V input setting is too sensitive, and would require an attenuator, while the 4.8V setting is slightly too insensitive and wouldn't allow for full power even with volume turned up to 100%.
