If the baseline THD is 3% then 8 dB more THD can be audible.

If the baseline THD is 0.03% (-70 dB)  then 8 dB more THD is unlikely to
be audible.

If the baseline THD is 0.003% (-90 dB)  then 8 dB more THD is in
fahgeddaboutit territory.
