My two cents on the initial question External DAC on Transporter: best output option 1st AES/EBU because it's the professional standard and more important has balanced outputs. This minimizes loss on the connection. 2nd Digital S/PDIF. S/PDIF is almost identical to AES/EBU. 3rd Optical S/PDIF.
