Ran many a wing which had painted tips. The difference in temperature of
the dark bit and the white is quite noticeable.
Moved to the US Southwest with a black car. Found the aircon was pretty
useless in the desert. Painted it white, and the aircon worked. All that
changed was the paint.
But if you take the paint off an old glider's wing tip, the condition of
the gelcoat is better than the rest of the glider. In my limited
experience, haven't noticed damage to composite structures.

Thanks Col
Speaking from experience, I recently upgraded my old, light green,
Pajero for a Black later model Pajero, emphasis on Black.
Subjectively, it is no hotter than the green one and cools at about
the same rate once the aircon is switched on.
I agree with Mike, the biggest influencing factor is the glass, not
the colour.

Black cars are a couple of degrees hotter than white ones on hot days
but not much. The problem is the heat gets in thru' the windows but
can't get out again --I believe glass is relatively impermeable to the
infra-red part of the spectrum.
You will find that the boot stays cooler than the interior of the car
regardless of color, especially in bright sunshine.

I wouldn't want to sit in a black glider. A black car on a summer's
day is bad enough!
