Not just gliding, all of aviation. Instructors are supposed to be able to provide evidence, years and years later, that they covered every god damn thing imaginable.
“Do you have evidence, in writing, that you specifically educated the deceased that a powered aircraft can not maintain altitude without an adequate supply of fuel?” Blame the lawyers and the ’it’s not my fault, who can I blame’ attitude of modern society Record keeping in powered flying schools underwent a massive overhaul some 15 years ago to create this traceability. The fact that gliding has gotten away without it for as long as it has is, quite frankly, amazing.
