Stuart, Is the proposed Part 103 on the table? I checked the CASA website and the NPRM has been withdrawn. > >Another issue I believe needs our immediate attention is the National >Airspace System (NAS). Not to many nasties there? How about the lowering of >the A Class airspace to Fl245 and in some areas Fl180. The USA has had this for years, it used to called the PCA(Positive Control Airspace) and even in the western US it was at Fl 180 where the ground is at 7000 to 9000 feet in lots of places. Wave windows have been negotiated for the wave soaring operations which is about the same as been happening here. What is the problem? >means NO VFR FLIGHTS ALLOWED. Big deal. No VFR was in fact the situation in this country above Fl 200 before the alphabet airspace was introduced. Sheer hype and panic mongering. Is this another ATC union Dick Smith bashing exercise? According to Paul Phelan in the last issue of Australian Aviation this union appears to be the only industry body unhappy with the NAS. > >My point - while the discussion about the Rec Pilots License is important to >some of you, there are far more important issues that really do threaten our >sport >Let's get some focus on these bigger issues. Interesting that the GFA hasn't told the members about all this isn't it? I'm sure people might take an interest if they knew. The big issue threatening our sport is having a moribund and incompetent body that is supposedly representing our interests.
