I reckon the CD ROM is well done, people should actually have a look at it.

The main thrust of the new system is for pilots to use LOOKOUT as the
primary way to maintain separation and not to use radio for self
announcements on area frequencies.

On the whole, the new airspace frees up more non-controlled airspace for
use, but the onus is on pilots to behave themselves.

The fact that there will be aircraft monitoring and using different
frequencies in the same airspace is not dissimilar to gliders using the
gliding frequencies and power aircraft listening to other frequencies.
Because there is now the discouragement to self announce, maintaining
listening watch will not be that helpful.

Just becasue we are glider pilots doesn't mean that we excused from not
being aware of the new airspace and radio procedures. Play the CD.

We have to share the sky with others too!
