G'day SDF and all,

I've got a great clip of the UK Juniors just doing 'Competition Finishes', close formation flying and aerobatics! Goes for 15 minutes and is action pacted with cool background music! You can check their website out at www.smokinvid.co.uk

The juniors of Aus are hoping to do something very simular so we can promote gliding to all ages, but mostly the under 30's! Just need a couple of camera's now and we'll be able to get cracking!

I'm just in the process of organising a uni student from the Sunshine Coast to come to the Aussie Junior Nats and tape the whole event! This is so we can get some professional footage to make a promotional (What is gliding etc), exciting 'competition finish', and a celebration of the FUN times had at the comp video's! Hopefully we'll have this on DVD and VHS.

The reason for organising this, is that I've seen so many cool video's of hang-gliding and wanted to get something started like this for all gliding competitions! I think we should definately try to get something going for the Multi-Class Nats in Dalby, possibly a uni student and pay for their accom and meals?? but the key point is that we get some shots of ladies cruising around the grids in bikini's!!

Regards,
Adam Woolley

P.s. I don't know how exciting a diamond height gain would be, but the other's sound great! Just needs lots of colours, good music (non of this opera stuff) and FUN times!

Guys and Gals,

What is the scope and target audience of the proposed Gliding Movie?

The reason I am asking is, I have recently seen some great sport
presentations 30 to 60 minutes on sports including paragliding, canoeing,
scuba, and they make the activities look very exciting. I have not seen any
similar footage on gliding. But I am sure that the right people with the
right equipment could make our sport look exciting. Some one preparation for
a long cross country, a safari, or a diamond height gain where no one has
done one before.

Personally I would like to see all our competitions filmed in a similar way
we see cycling, car rallies, and other sports that are not contained in an
arena filmed and packaged. The complete event is then presented in 40 to 60
minutes of footage - I believe that a Gliding Comp could be made to look
very exciting.

This kind of exposure would educate people that we don't fly round and round
over airfields and it is a serious sport. This should attract people to
gliding who may have written the sport off as not for them because of
misconceptions. That's the dream - can we make it reality?

What do think

SDF
