The northern morning glory is caused by very specific and now known 
causes to do with the ranges on Cpae York.

Wonder what caused the one you saw down south?

I have seen similar travelling waves once in the Adelaide Hills.

As for climate change, check out this paper that uses the IPCC's own 
model simulation outputs and compares it to the measured data.
