There is no rules against having an Artificial Horizon. And speaking as a wave flyer, you can get stuck, and it would be good to have one.
Of course that said, a couple of accelerometers are not an AH, they can too easily tumble. I agree that things should be controlled through review rather than control on equipment - as above, there is legitimate needs.
