As many of you know, we have had some problems with website downtime and
slow connections. Most of you don't know that Andreas, our system
administrator, has been having difficulty upgrading the site to Plone 4,
due to lack of server space and the slow, unreliable connection. Because
of these problems, we have been looking for alternative places to host
the site. Our choices are limited because most commercial hosts do not
accept Plone sites because of the resources they use.

Andreas suggested the German association OOoDeV might host the site.
OOoDeV has now formally offered to host our website, but only if our
domain& site names do not include OOo or OpenOffice. (OOoDeV hosts The
Document Foundation/LibreOffice. I assume they are going to change their
name, too.)

(Related info: Some weeks ago, we invited the LibreOffice docs team to
use our website. They have not accepted this offer (in part because of
the site name), but the possibility exists for them or other related
documentation groups to do so. A minor name change would make this
arrangement more attractive.)

I propose to change the domain and site names of OOoAuthors to the more
generic ODFAuthors, where ODF = OpenDocument Format. I have already
registered the domain name to prevent anyone else from grabbing it.

I also propose to accept the offer from OOoDeV to host the site. This
will allow Andreas and others to administer it more efficiently.

Please respond to this note with +1 or discussion about the proposals.
Thank you.
