I have about the same feelings as Andrew has

Middle of October 2010, I used much time trying to figure out what
LibreOffice (LO) was about. I found the site at the time almost
useless in this regard. What I hoped to find was an explanation as to
how the products differ in a way that matters to a user. The site was
sufficiently vague that I finally sent a personal email to Thorsten
Behrens. I formulated my opinions and limited understanding based on
clarifications from Thorsten (to whom I am thankful for taking the time).
I will say that I lack the time to pursue an OOo vs LibreOffice
debate. At least for now, I will state that I believe that the
products are sufficiently similar that documentation can be done
jointly at this particular point in time. Now, for a few concerns:
Concern 1:
I interpret a portion of this message to say that the LibreOffice
folks desire no association with the OOo name. I start wondering if
LibreOffice will port future OOo changes and if they will forge a
different path yielding a different product (or if they will stay as a
rebranded OOo with added value). Depending on the intent, in the near
future it may not be possible to have a common set of documentation.
Concern 2:
If we change the name to use ODF, then (1) the name no longer contains
any association to the products about which the documentation is
written, (2) other products use ODF, and (3) the documentation site is
not about ODF.
---------------------------------
I read the message below to say "we will host you if (and only if) you
drop name association with OOo". I am against changing the name before
we understand what OOoDev intends to do. Will OOoDev jump on the
LibreOffice bandwagon and change their name accordingly (LoDev??)? If
OOoDev intends to become ODFDev then that would be a more compelling
reason to use the ODF name
