Shirley; I think there is likely a connection between your Moura family and my
grandmother's Tavares do Rego line from Santa Maria. When I first started
doing genealogy I found she at one point used Moura in her name. I've never
found it more than that one time though. Sure wish we had got into this when
we both still lived in that area and my folks were still alive! Sam in CA

I have MOURA from Sao Miguel, Azores. They were originally from Santa
Maria, Azores.
My friend's mother was Mary MOURA. She lived near Decoto. (I think the
name of the town was Alviso. I
believe there were two ALVISOs in California).
My paternal grandmother, my father, me, and my children all lived in DECOTO,
CA.

hi here are some more tidbits about the Moura family. I have a Rose Moura
married to Frank Pimrntel living in Alameda County, in the town of Decoto
.
her father was Antonio Bernardo de Moura born Jan 1, 1858 and died june 28,
1940 in Alameda Co. Frank and Rose Moura had a daughter Mary born March
1921. I don't know what Island these Mouras are from .
