Hi Shirley, Betty V., and Sam, Thank you. I wish there were more discussions on the MOURA name. (In US census records I've also seen MORA.)
If some of the MOURA's were in CA ~1900-1940, and my "Frank" MOURA didn't arrive till the 1920's, perhaps he had relatives in Alameda County and that is why he moved there. I've been on the Azores List for 4-5 years, and researchers there have mentioned a few times that my MOURA's probably came from Santa Maria. I've never followed through with that.
