Leslie, Do not be discouraged. Many of us that had grandparents born in the Azores, but parents born here in the USA, did not have Portuguese spoken in the home, so unfortunately, did not learn the language. How wonderful that you are wanting to learn more. So many here will be able to help you, but do be sure to tell us the full name of any persons and some approximate year of birth, or actual birth date if you have it. That helps a great deal. For instance, my grandmother's grandfather was a Carvalho for the last name - but they lived on the island of Sao Jorge. It won't be long and you will be amazed at how much information you will have! Good luck, and God bless your efforts. Maggie Homen Sutton Turlock, CA Family from Sao Jorge
