Looks like this posting got lost out in internet cyberspace ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: John Vasconcelos <gfsjo...@gmail.com> Date: Sat, Sep 17, 2011 at 12:17 AM Subject: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] How many name changes can one family have To: azores@googlegroups.com
*Hello there "E", In answer to your question ("How many name changes can one family have?" If you mean surnames, It can add up and it may vary with the time in history when it occurred. In my own family tree, The Vasconcelos surname goes back (including me) 6 generations to my 4G grandfather Antonio Caetano de Vasconcellos (born about 1740). His parents were Joao Pimentel Velho and Anna Pimentel. I was unable to find any record of his parents so he was the end of that line. Anna Pimentel's parents were Manoel Pimentel and Isabel de Freitas. Manuoel Pimentel's parents were Domingos Nunes and Marrianna Fraga both end of line. Isabel de Freitas' parents were Domingos Fernandez and Catharina de Freitas, both end of line. So in that particular branch of my family tree, surnames seemed to have changed every generation in the late 1600's and early 1700's.
