Linda, I don't know if there is a correct procedure.
Many people pick one name (maybe the one they see the most) and use that as the main name in their genealogy program. Then in the Notes or Memo or Ancedote field they put that the found the alternate name of ______ instead. TMG users can record all the names, but one still has to be chosen as the main, primary name.
