Dear Cousin Rick:

Actually Rick, our common ancestors are the grandparents of José de Viveiros de
Miranda, António Viveiros Travassos of Capelas, married on 10 May 1714 to Maria
de Araújo, born 16 Oct 1682. My latest revision of my paper on the Mirandas of
Bretanha runs 300pp. I do not think I will be revising it any further. The
Pacheco Mirandas, Cordeiro Mirandas, Viveiros Mirandas, Mirandas de Araújo,
Tavares Mirandas and the Mirandas from Santo António all have Afonso Ledo as
their common ancestor. So anybody connected to any one of these Miranda
branches is related to everybody else with a connection in any of these Miranda
branches.

The Viveiros Mirandas are nicknamed the "barbeiros", i.e. barbers, which also
means they were amateur surgeons. They pulled teeth, stitched up wounds, etc.
They were near neighbors and worked closely with the Morgados da Lomba Grande.
The house of José de Viveiros and Joana da Estrela still stands at the
intersection of the Estrada Nacional and the Canada da Lomba Grande. In its
time it was one of the best houses in Pilar. I remember visiting "Mestre" João
Barbeiro in that house some 35 years ago.

Regards from Cousin John Miranda Raposo

Cheri,
Thank you so much! By the way, I had an email from John Raposa a few years ago
and my family is in his tree, he gave me lots of family info - is there anyone
else out there in the same tree?
Thanks again,
Ellen
