You may also want to look at Legacy at http://legacyfamilytree.com. It allows
you to link to your FamilySearch Family Tree and download (or upload)
information) from and to your Family Tree online. You choose what data you want
to include (sort of like FamilyTreeMaker and Ancestry). You can download a free
version (without the FS FamilyTree integration) to see if you like how it
handles your data before purchasing the full program for about $29.95. There
are several options available that include manuals and other products. You can
decide if you want to synchronize your data between the two-I don’t because of
other people making changes on the tree.

Subject: Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Name of the mother of Joao

Aaron; I have not searched for the marriage of Jose D'Almeida and Miguelina De
Torres or De Resende YET. I've been looking for the marriage of their son Luis
to Luiza de Jesus. In the process I found an. Index in the beginning of the
book with names for more of their children so today I'll follow up on them and
see when they started having children but I need to find my husband's great
grandparents- the Luis and Luiza couple. I'm HOPING I can find Luiza's
lineage. She used the name Luiza de Jesus CORREA. So I'm wondering where the
CORREA came from but maybe the marriage record will give a clue.

Aaron, do you use familysearch.org <http://familysearch.org> to enter your
names? I'm thinking that I need to get a program in addition to the Family
search Family Tree because I'm getting more and more names. I'm LDS and like
using the family tree because (like I learned from Cheri Mello) that program is
in the "cloud" so I can access it from anywhere. But for everyday going bk
and forth in researching, copying records and verifying, I think I may need
another program.

Thank you so much for your willingness to help me.

  Hello Maria,

Glad I could help. No, I do not have an index nor are they in my family tree.
I do have Resendes in my family tree from Achada.
It's not difficult to find related records (baptism) of children from the same
parents.  Once you find one, you can usually locate the others fairly quickly;
provided the parents did not move to another parish.

Were you able to locate Jose's marriage to Miguelina?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and sending this information.
You have been so helpful in sending the links! I did a couple of happy dances
this morning. Thank you so much.

I noticed the priest didn't include Luis' parents but they are in the other
records. How on earth did you find these so quickly. It takes me a long time
going page by page. Was there an index or do u have these people in your tree?
I noticed the Resende name is in your email.

  Hello,

I've spent some time studying Achada and Nordestinho, Nordeste records and I've
seen both male and female interchange surnames. example, Jose de Faria, I
found his marriage record and first child born, using the name Jose Correa
Pimentel. His grandma was a Pimentel and his great grandma was a Correa.
I've also seen inter-change of names with Silva-Brandoa (Nordestinho),
Simas-Resendes (Achada), and Pimentel-Resendes (Achada). In most of these
cases, they were simply using either the father or mothers surname. In the
case of Jose de Faria, it took a little extra work and going back in the family
tree to figure it out.

As for the pais incognito, a DNA test could help elucidate your husband's
pedigree.

As for the mother of Jose (the son), I can't make it out. I tried looking for
Joze de Almeida and ? da Conceicao's marriage record but I couldn't find it. I
looked in Sao Sebastiao and Agua Retorta

Here is Jose's baptism (father), left hand side; take a look at his maternal
grandparents surnames. I think it agrees with your original assumptions and
findings regarding Jose and Luis de Almeida. Good work!

Upper left hand page- for JOZE

I'm was searching for children born to Luiz D'Almeida from the parish in Agua
Retorta in Sao Miguel, (the same exact parish as is mentioned in this record)
and his wife Luiza de Jesus.

However, I came across this record where the names of the grandparents are so
similar, that I wondered if Luiz D'Almeida is a brother to Jose D'Almeida.
the name of the parents for both Luiz and Jose are both Jose D'Almeida and both
men's mother is Miguelina. However, For Luiz the mother is Miguelina De Torres
and for this Jose the mother is Miguelina de Resende (?) if I read it
correctly. Miguelina is not a common name so I wonder if it IS the same
person, it's,possible she used both names: De Torres and De Resende. Any
thoughts?

Can anyone help me out with the name of the mother of the baby in this record,
please? The best I could make out was Jesnivea de Concinco(?). I know that
doesn't make sense)

There's several coincidences: both men came from the same parish; both men have
a father with the same name and a mother with the same first name which is an
uncommon name and both men had wives with
Pais incognitos. Ugh! (So I came across my first encounter with Pais
incognito and I don't know if that's going to mean I hit a dead end.). It's a
shame because it's my husband's great grandmother

Here's the record. I appreciate any help. Thank you
