Thanks Rick for your suggestion and Cheri for your info. I had stopped 
looking at the baptism records at the end of December 1827, then looked 
from 1826 to the mid-teens. Took your suggestion started from December 1830 
and eventually found Jose's parents marriage in late 1828. So I have been 
searching the baptism records from the marriage date forward. Since the 
early 1829 Mae de Deus baptism records have water damage at the top of the 
page the beginning of those records are missing the child's name, the 
father's name and at times even the mother's name. I'll have to go back to 
those records and try to find either a grandparents name or an Aunt or 
Uncle that happens to be a padrinho (hopefully I spell it correctly). 
Louie, you are correct. that is where I am looking.
