Hi all,
It was interesting to configure the system, but it works. I'm using a PC with Debian Linux to run backuppc from, and back up a Mac OSX box. After some troubleshooting, I got the backing up part working. Unfortunately, restoring is a different matter.
Direct restore results in these kinds of errors:
Contents of file /var/lib/backuppc/pc/Macbox/RestoreLOG.10.z, modified 2006-05-16 17:44:33 (Extracting only Errors)
Running: /usr/bin/ssh -x -f -l root Macbox /usr/bin/env LC_ALL=C /usr/bin/xtar -x -p --numeric-owner --same-owner -v -f - -C /Users
Running: /usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_tarCreate -h Macbox -n 1 -s /Users/ -t -r /bas -p /bas/ /bas/HELIOS_Xtar_1_0_0.dmg
Xfer PIDs are now 11820,11821
tarCreate: Unable to write to output file (Connection reset by peer)
Restore failed: BackupPC_tarCreate failed
When I download the zip file, or download the tar file, no problem. Works fine, and no corruption whatshowever.
Does anyone have some idea what to look for?
Oh, I use xtar to backup and restore to keep the resource forks of the Mac, and ssh keys to connect to the Mac...
Cheers, Bas.
