I think I said as much. Even the method of hadith criticism was
remarkable for its time, but there are better methods now. Tthe fact
remains there are more hadiths than there are things the Prophet could
have possibly said and done in His entire life. And it is also clear
that the ahadith literature tells us more about the Muslim community
in the second and third centuries than it does about Muhammad Himself.
