Well, taking netscape as an example (a bad example, maybe, given their
preponderance for jamming databases onto things that don't really need
them), the abook.nab file is declared by "file abook.nab" to be
"data". I'm guessing it's part of the same sort of proprietary lark
they use for email.

I mean that changing the format of the bbdb in this case is of no
benefit to the user; only the programmer benefits in that there's one
less conversion to make if you're syncing with vCards. I'm very
reluctant to change an application to suit the programmers, since that
way Bad User Experience lies.
