bbdb format problem in xemacs

I tried to use my .bbdb which is in format format 6 from bbdd 2.32
(Debian potato using the testing package) 

However xemacs complains that this format is not accepted because the
bbdd is in version 2.00.06 

Is there any chance of an upgrade soon?

How can I deal with this problem and continue to use vm in xemacs?
