It doesn't work terribly well, though.

What I'd often like is for fields which are in the
gnus-ignore-header-alist to be dumped into the BBDB in some form
(particularly useful for face and x-face fields, where you don't
want the raw data, but might want the image, and where BBDB knows
perfectly well how to turn that faw data into an image).

Alas, I can't do that: BBDB is triggered immediately *after* Gnus
prepares the article buffer and hides the headers, following which
`bbdb-extract-field-value' can't find the header (because it's hidden).

Anyone solved this? (I don't really want to lay the entire article
out a second time in a temp buffer just to extract the value of one
flipping field!)
