Makes sense, I had not yet much thought about this.

I have not yet found time to look over this. Makefles are not my
specciality. I'll try to make this more reliable.

In the meanwhile, I want to say that BBDB compilation in the end
should not be too complicatd. It can also be done from within emacs
using, e.g., dired-do-byte-compile (bound to B in dired).
