The e-mail would have come from another e-mail address. I just looked in Mail.app Sent Messages and it looks like my mobleMe preferences are set to store sent messages on Server and Delete after a month. I don't remember setting this and I'm pi**ed!! THANKS APPLE. Off to check Time Machine.
