However, considering that BE is *not* a newcomer - "Distributed bug tracking" (http://lwn.net/Articles/281849/) article is published >2 yrs ago, I believe it's better to have some public release with clear roadmap what can one expect in the future so that users (developers) can see that the project is alive and (slowly) progressing towards its goal. At ther moment, or let's say by the end of April when I was looking at the lists' archive and seeing the last commit in Sept '09, the project looked quite dead.
